2014 Bond Projects

Welcome to the City of Live Oak 2014 Bond Projects Information Page!  As we move forward with the 2014 Bond Projects, this page will be continually updated with the most recent information.

During the May 2014 election, the citizens of Live Oak voted to proceed with the following bond items:
  • Proposition 1 - City Wide Street Improvements
  • Proposition 2 - Toepperwein Road Widening Projects
  • Proposition 3 - Ball Field Lighting and Park Trail Extension. 
Proposition 4 - Fitness Park did not pass and will not be funded with the 2014 Bonds.

Update - April 29, 2016:


Bond Project #1 - City Wide Street Improvements:
  • O'Connor/Forest Bluff Traffic Signal - This project is complete!
  • Hunter Oaks - This project is complete!
  • General Street Improvements (including Dry Canyon) - The City Council awardedd a bid to D&D Contractors and the project will begin soon. 
  • Bridlewood Subdivision - This project is currently underway with an expected completion in late June, 2016, weather permitting.  Please forward any questions or concerns to Mark Wagster at mwagster@liveoaktx.net.

Bond Project #2 - Toepperwein Road Widening:
  • This project is nearing completion.  Final punch list items are being completed. 

Bond Project #3 - Park Trails and Ball Field Lighting:
  • Ball Field Lighting - This project is complete!
  • Park Trails - This project is currenlty underway!  Most of the trail portion has been completed with the exception of the leadup to the dam and some additional work on top of the dam.  Look forward to a ribbon cutting upon project completion. 
 

Update - January 15, 2016:


Bond Project #1 - City Wide Street Improvements:
  • O'Connor/Forest Bluff Traffic Signal - This project is complete!
  • Hunter Oaks - This project is complete!
  • General Street Improvements (including Dry Canyon) - Final plans for this project are being completed and bid packets are being created.  This project should bid in one package by the end of September.
  • Bridlewood Subdivision - This project is currently underway.  Please forward any questions or concerns to Mark Wagster at mwagster@liveoaktx.net.

Bond Project #2 - Toepperwein Road Widening:
  • This project is nearing completion.  Stopbars will be painted at both intersections and some maintenance to the timing of stop lights is needed.  Look forward to a ribbon cutting on this project soon.

Bond Project #3 - Park Trails and Ball Field Lighting:
  • Ball Field Lighting - This project is complete!
  • Park Trails - This project is currenlty underway!  We are working with Northeast Lakeview College to fund a portion of the project on their campus so that we can stay within budget.  Look forward to a ribbon cutting upon project completion. 


Update - August 12, 2015:


Bond Project #1 - City Wide Street Improvements:
  • O'Connor/Forest Bluff Traffic Signal - This project is complete!
  • Hunter Oaks - This project is at completion with only final punch list items being completed.
  • General Street Improvements (including Dry Canyon) - Final plans for this project are being completed and bid packets are being created.  This project should bid in one package by the end of September.
  • Bridlewood Subdivision - The City Council awardedd a bid to D&D Contractors and the project will begin soon.  We are currently trying to gather contact information for all Bridlewood residents.  If you are a resident of Bridlewood, please visit http://www.bridlewood.tk/ to enter your contact information for updates. 

Bond Project #2 - Toepperwein Road Widening:
  • Construction on this project has begun.  Phase 1 will include the expansion of the north side of the roadway and will result in access from Village Oak and Sage Oak being closed.  Phase 2 will include expansion of the south side of the roadway.  Phase 3 will be the reclaiming and resurfacing of the middle of the roadway.  The entire project is estimated to take 180 days, weather permitting.  The raodway will remain open in both directions for the duration of the construction.

Bond Project #3 - Park Trails and Ball Field Lighting:
  • Ball Field Lighting - This project is complete!
  • Park Trails - This project is currenlty out to bid with a bid date set for Thursday, September 3rd.  The item will then go before the City Council to select a contractor. 

 

Update - July 16, 2015:

Construction on Phase 1 of the Toepperwein Road Expansion Project will begin on Monday!  Traffic on Toepperwein will remain open in both directions for the duration of the project, but the access from Village Oak and Sage Oak onto Toepperwein will be closed for Phase 1. The entire project (Phases 1-3) is expected to take an estimated 180 days, weather permitting.  Please see below for additional informaiton. 


Bond Project #1 - City Wide Street Improvements:
  • O'Connor/Forest Bluff Traffic Signal - This project is complete!.
  • Hunter Oaks - This project is at completion with only final punch list items being completed.
  • General Street Improvements (including Dry Canyon) - Final plans for this project are being completed and the project will be ready to bid soon.
  • Bridlewood Subdivision - This project is currently out for bid.

  • Ball Field Lighting - This project is complete!
  • Park Trails - This project is currently under plan review with multiple agencies involved in the project.  Upon completion of plan review, the project will be ready for advertising and bidding.


Update - April 20, 2015:


Bond Project #1 - City Wide Street Improvements:
  • O'Connor/Forest Bluff Traffic Signal - This project is at completion with only final punch list items being completed.
  • Hunter Oaks - Construction is underway with asphalt removal beginning today.  Please be patient during the process as residents will be incovenienced and unable to have access to individual driveways during different phases of the construciton process.
  • General Street Improvements (including Dry Canyon) - Final plans for this project are being completed and the project will be ready to bid shortly after Toepperwein Road is bid.
  • Bridlewood Subdivision - This project is nearing final design stages.  We are monitoring the work on Hunter Oaks to better anticiapte the process for this project. 

Bond Project #2 - Toepperwein Road Widening:
  • This project has been advertised for bid and bids will be opened on April 30th.  The item is expected to be before City Council on May 12, 2015.

Bond Project #3 - Park Trails and Ball Field Lighting:
  • Ball Field Lighting - This project is complete!
  • Park Trails - This project is currently under plan review with multiple agencies involved in the project.  Upon completion of plan review, the project will be ready for advertising and bidding.
 


Update - February 2, 2015:


Bond Project #1 - City Wide Street Improvements:
  • O'Connor/Forest Bluff Traffic Signal - The parts are in and construction has begun.  Please be patient with the process as traffic will see slight delays during the installation process.  Once installed, the light will be flashing for a short period before regular cycling begins.
  • Hunter Oaks - Construction is underway.  Please be patient during the process as residents will be incovenienced and unable to have access to individual driveways during different phases of the construciton process.  Temporary mailboxes have been installed and residents should be notified by the USPS for access.
  • General Street Improvements (including Dry Canyon) - Final plans for this project are being completed and the project will be ready to bid soon.

Bond Project #2 - Toepperwein Road Widening:
  • This project is in the final stages of design.  We will advertise the project for bid soon.

Bond Project #3 - Park Trails and Ball Field Lighting:
  • Ball Field Lighting - This project is complete!
  • Park Trails - This project is currently under plan review with multiple agencies involved in the project.  Upon completion of plan review, the project will be ready for advertising and bidding.

Update - December 17, 2014:

***In order to connect the the lights on the ball fields (Bond Project #3), electricity will be off at the Main City Park between Wednesday, December 17th and Friday, December 19th.  All of the restroom facilities at the park operate on an autoflush and require electricity.  Bathroom facilities will be closed during this time but we are working on have portable bathrooms available to park goers.*** 



Update - December 10, 2014:


Bond Project #1 - City Wide Street Improvements:
  • O'Connor/Forest Bluff Traffic Signal - The parts should be in by the end of December or early January.  The project will begin in the new year.
  • Hunter Oaks - Construction is scheduled to begin in the middle of January.  We will be hosting a meeting with resdients at the beginning of January.
  • General Street Improvements (including Dry Canyon - Final plans for this project should be completed by late January and the project will then be ready to bid.

Bond Project #2 - Toepperwein Road Widening:
  • This project is in the final stages of design.  We will advertise the project for bid in the new year.

Bond Project #3 - Park Trails and Ball Field Lighting:
  • Ball Field Lighting - This project is currently underway.
    • Residents and park goers can expect periodic power interupptions and and temporty closure of ball fields during the installation process 
  • Park Trails - This project is currently under plan review with multiple agencies involved in the project.  Upon completion of plan review, the project will be ready for advertising and bidding.

 


 
Update - November 24, 2014:

Bond Project #1 - City Wide Street Improvements:

  • O'Connor/Forest Bluff Traffic Signal - All parts have been ordered for this project and constuction is likely to begin around February, 2015.
  • Hunter Oaks - This project has been awarded to JR Sitework Inc.

Bond Project #3 - Park Trails and Ball Field Lighting:
  • Ball Field Lighting - This project is currently underway with expected completion in late December.
 
 

Update - August 13, 2014:


Bond Project #1 - City Wide Street Improvements:
  • O'Connor/Forest Bluff Traffic Signal - This project is scheduled to advertise on August 14, 2014 and bid on September 15, 2014.
  • Hunter Oaks - This project is currently under ADA review and will advertise and bid upon review completion.
  • General Street Improvements - Each street throughout the city is currenlty being re-inspected.  Each street will be assessed for the appropriate rehabilitation process prior to design.  Dry Canyon is included in the General Streets Project.

Bond Project #2 - Toepperwein Road Widening:
  • Surveying is complete and this project is currently in the design phase.

Bond Project #3 - Park Trails and Ball Field Lighting:
  • Ball Field Lighting - At the August 12, 2014 regular City Council meeting, the City Council voted to move forward with the installation of lights at the sports complex located at the Main City Park.  
    • MUSCO Sports Field Lighting LLC, a leading global sports park lighting company was selected to install the lights
    • A total of 3 baseball fields and 1 football field will have lights installed
    • Equipment will be state of the art field lighting designed for youth sports play
    • The project is expected to begin in September of 2014 with completion by November of 2014
    • Residents and park goers can expect periodic power interupptions and and temporty closure of ball fields during the installation process 
  • Park Trails - This project is currently under plan review with multiple agencies involved in the project.  Upon completion of plan review, the project will be ready for advertising and bidding.
