Public Works

Just a small portion The Live Oak Public Works provides the following services: Animal Control, Street Maintenance, Park Maintenance, Water/Waste Water, and a Municipal Swimming Pool.

 

 

Animal Control

  • Promote responsible pet ownership through education programs
  • Sponsor rabies vaccination drives
  • Operate kennel and quarantine facility (Approved by Texas Dept. of Health)
  • License pets and enforce pet ordinances

Street Maintenance:
  • Provide street sweeping services
  • Maintain traffic control devices ranging from stop signs to traffic signals
  • Perform preventive pavement maintenance such as crack sealing
  • Pavement rehabilitation

Park Maintenance:

  • Clean and maintain public rest room facilities
  • Grounds maintenance for more than 75 acres of park land
  • Maintain playground equipment and athletic fields
  • Coordinate use of athletic fields for youth and adult sports
Water/Waste Water:
  • Provide safe drinking water resources to the residents and businesses in Live Oak
  • Maintaining and servicing all water mains, services, meters, tanks, chlorine injection systems, and pumps on the water system. The water system serves approximately 2/3 of the population of Live Oak, the majority of the other 1/3 are served by the San Antonio Water System (SAWS).
  • Maintain, inspect, and routinely clean the sanitary sewer mains and man holes
  • Read meters
  • Promote water conservation through public education
  • Comply with state and federal requirements for water and waste water systems
  • Maintain fire hydrants for fire protection
  • Maintain four water well pumping and storage sites
  • Monitor a critical water use management plan to regulate the use of water during drought periods

Municipal Pool:

  • Provide public swimming
  • Provide swimming lessons
  • Coordinate with local swim team
  • Maintain proper water chemistry and filtration
  • Pool and/or clubhouse available for private parties for a small fee
