The city is geographically located 15 miles northeast of downtown San Antonio, at the intersection of Interstate 35 and Loop 1604 North in Northeast Bexar County.     As part of the Randolph Metrocom area, Live Oak shares a regional population base of over 420,000, an average household income of $68,712, and traffic counts of over 200,000 along IH-35 and Loop 1604. Currently,the Metrocom area has over 20,000 new homes being planned which includes two new subdivisions under construction here in Live Oak. Live Oak is rapidly becoming a tremendous business partner that focuses on attracting high quality commerical developments and enhancing the economic vitality of the business region.

    Live Oak is a home-rule city with a council/manager form of government. It provides basic services such as police, fire, utility, animal control, public works, and other services that are vital to the advancement of our city. In 1996, the city approved the creation of the City of Live Oak Economic Development Corporation to facilitate the city's growth and prosperity. The city has since worked in partnership with new businesses and investors to facilitate high quality commercial and residential development. Government, business, and community leaders are committed to creating, retaining and attracting quality businesses to the region. The Live Oak Economic Development Corporation's primary goal is to create jobs by expanding and diversifying the city's economic base, increasing the wealth of the community by attracting outside capital investments, and enhancing the quality of life for Live Oak residents and business partners.

      Financial Services

      Randolph Brooks FCU (RBFCU) Corporate Headquarters, encompassed a capital investment of over $15 million and the consolidation of 300 jobs. Adjacent acreage available.

      Healthcare Services

      Northeast Methodist Hospital, encompassed a capital investment of over $50 million, creating over 100 jobs and retaining over 550 jobs. Other healthcare projects are under assessment and development that will add to the City serving as a regional healthcare hub.

      Education Services

      ACCD Northeast Lakeview College has undergone renovations totaling over $125 million in order to expand and serve 15,000 students and several new programs.

      Retail

      The Forum at Olympia Parkway Shopping Center, encompasses over 1.5 million square feet and includes major retailers including Home Depot, Target, Best Buy, and Kohl’s. Several national restaurants such as IHOP, Outback Steakhouse, and Red Robin have also located to the Forum.

      The Live Oak Crossing, is a 30 acre commercial development, and is home to the Regal Cinema, Ashley Furniture Homestore, Texas Roadhouse, Buffalo Wild Wings, and others.
