The Parks and Recreation Commission was created by Ordinance Number 438 of the Ordinance of the City of Live Oak, and our Code of Ordinances outline its duties. Their objectives include:
- Recommend plans to the planning commission and the city council for developing, establishing, locating and expanding the city’s park system.
- Establish and implement procedures and methods for the operation of present and future parks with council approval.
- Interpret the attitudes and the recreation needs of the city and determine and recommended a program to satisfy those needs.
- Receive complaints on the park operation and satisfy such complaints to the satisfaction of the commission and complainant within the authority vested in the commission.
The Commission consists of seven regular positions and three alternates. Meetings are held quarterly
on the 2nd Tuesday in January, April, July and October at 6:00 p.m. The Tree Care Board meets at 6:00 p.m. and Parks & Recreation meets after.
