Values-Based.
Compassionate Approach.

The Ben and Betha Mieth School of Nursing’s mission statement is based on the values and beliefs of the Wayland Baptist University mission. The mission of the Mieth School of Nursing is to educate students in a Christian environment. The goal is to prepare graduates who provide holistic nursing care at both beginning and advanced practice levels in a diverse healthcare world. The school prepares graduates committed to providing evidence-based patient care, teaching, service, and outreach.

Students learn the art and skill of nursing from professional practitioners. The low faculty-student ratio, small class sizes, state-of-the-art labs, and high-fidelity simulation rooms will bring students one step closer to achieving their academic and professional dreams.

Great Hearts Charter Academy

Pursuing Truth, Goodness, and Beauty.

Great Hearts exists to cultivate the hearts and minds of students through the pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. Our primary tool of instruction is the Socratic Method. The teacher using this timeless method engages the student by asking questions that provoke deep reflection. By applying the Socratic method to literature and philosophy, students can engage with the material in a way that no textbook or system of memorization can provide. This is teaching by questioning, learning by discovery. At Great Hearts, Socratic moments begin in kindergarten and first grade, and culminate in the upper high school grades when our scholars wrestle with the highest order questions of the human condition. More than a curriculum, Great Hearts Live Oak is a community—a nurturing home for learners and leaders.
